COLLETON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) -

A Walterboro man was arrested over the weekend after officials say he set his mobile home ablaze with his family still inside.

Colleton County Fire-Rescue officials say the man was involved in a domestic dispute shortly before the incident occurred on Saturday, August 18, around 12:50 p.m.

According to a report, the man poured gasoline over the stove and set it on fire. He then left the mobile home on Candlelight Road while his family, including several children, was still inside.

Officials say the man's 18-year-old son was able to get his family out of the residence, and used a garden hose to extinguish the fire in the kitchen before it spread into any other rooms.

The report states the suspect was captured by deputies on Keegan Drive, about 1.5 miles away from the scene.

The Colleton County Sheriff's Office and the State Police Arson Unit are investigating the incident.

No injuries were reported during the incident.
