The Berkeley County Sheriff's Office has charged the former City of Hanahan Human Resources Director with embezzling $10,000 in public funding.
Sheriff's office spokesman Dan Moon said 31-year-old Keyonda Malika Garry surrendered to deputies on Monday. She is charged with embezzlement of public funds.
According to Hanahan City Administrator John Cribb, Garry was placed on administrative leave on August 3 pending the results of the criminal investigation.
She then resigned from her position on August 8.
Garry was released from the Hill-Finklea Detention Center following a bond hearing in which she was granted a $15,000 bond.
Sheriff's office investigators took over the case at the request of the City of Hanahan.
