HORRY COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - A Garden City man was arrested Thursday after police say he called in a bomb threat at St. James High School.
Horry County Police Department detectives say 52-year-old Tony Franks called the school's office at 8:38 a.m. and told the receptionist there were two devices within the school set to go off in 30 minutes.
A subsequent investigation led detectives to a phone at Franks' place of residence on Jay Street, detectives said. He was promptly arrested.
Police also said supervisors from the department's Violent Crimes Section had to pull resources from within their section from actively searching for two double-homicide suspects in order to investigate the case.
Franks is currently in custody at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center. Charges are pending.
