MT. PLEASANT, SC (WCSC) - A Mt. Pleasant man is $100,000 richer after turning $5 in lottery winnings into a big money payday.
According to a release, the man spent $5 on a winning Instant Carolina 5 lottery ticket from the Sunoco Gas Station in Mt. Pleasant using winnings from a previous ticket.
After taxes were paid, he walked away with $100,000.
Reports say he has not yet told his wife, instead telling her that he had to take their truck to be fixed earlier this morning.
"I'm going to surprise her when it's in the bank," he said.
Instead, he drove straight to the Columbia Claims Center and was first in line when it opened.
The man told lottery officials he is going to give some money to his church, put some away for his son's education, and take his wife on a cruise.
The odds of winning $100,000 taxes paid are 1 in 500,000.
