Good Samaritans die helping car accident victims

LOS ANGELES (CNN) - Two people trying to help a driver after a crash were killed when they were electrocuted by a damaged light pole.

It happened Wednesday in the Valley Village neighborhood of Los Angeles.

Authorities said the driver crashed into a fire hydrant and the light pole in front of a home.

A neighbor and a woman in another vehicle who saw the crash rushed to the scene to help.

But firefighters said both women were hit with a fatal electric shock when exposed wires from the light pole came in contact with the rushing water.

Six other people who tried to help were taken to hospitals.
