CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Wrecks in the eastbound and westbound lanes of I-526 on the General William C. Westmoreland Bridge have been cleared, but they're still causing delays for commuters on Friday afternoon.

The wrecks, which did not appear to be serious, happened around 2:30 p.m., according to South Carolina Highway Patrol. By 3 p.m., westbound traffic was backed up past the Leeds Avenue exit.

By 3:30 p.m., eastbound traffic began to clear up but westbound traffic was still very stop-and-go.

Live 5 Traffic Reporter Kim Staley advises westbound motorists to opt for I-26 to the Cosgrove Avenue exit, then over the North Bridge into West Ashley.
