Suspected drug dealers arrested after cocaine found at home

BEAUFORT COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office has arrested two suspected drug dealers after deputies found cocaine and marijuana at a home in Ridgeland.

Investigators charged 29-year-old James R. Askew Jr. and 21-year-old Malik J. Mitchell with trafficking cocaine, possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime and simple possession of marijuana.

The sheriff's office says the arrests were the result of a two month investigation where investigators were able to conduct controlled purchases of illegal drugs at a home on Mitchelville Road.

Deputies say they seized $547, 32 grams of cocaine, 12 grams of marijuana, five tablets of a controlled substance, two handguns and other drug paraphernalia.
