Parents put up reward for I-526 hit-and-run case

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - A $10,000 reward is now being offered in a hit-and-run case involving a 26-year-old man.

Authorities say Nick Collins was run over by a box truck on I-526 on Aug. 3.

His parents have put up the reward money in hopes of finding a suspect, according to their attorney.

Collins is having surgery on Monday to repair his stomach. On Sunday, his family learned his kidneys are getting better and he won't need dialysis. Collins has already lost one leg to the accident.

Collins' family has also filed a lawsuit Against the driver of the car he was in that night.
The suit claims the driver was drinking when the accident happened.

Collins was a member in a local band, Fowler's Mustache.
