Stolen ATM found in abandoned pickup truck

COLLETON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - An ATM machine that was stolen from a Summerville bank early Monday has been found, and two suspects are under arrest.

According to the Colleton County Sheriff's Office, deputies found a pickup truck with the stolen ATM in the truck bed. The truck was abandoned in Colleton County, according to officials.

Deputies say the pickup truck was stolen from Dorchester County.

Authorities say evidence at the scene led them to the suspects, who were then taken into custody.

Summerville Police Department officials say the ATM was stolen from the CPM Federal Credit Union, located at 140 Westvaco Road, just before 4 a.m. on Monday.

Police say the thieves used a forklift from a nearby construction site to steal the ATM machine.

The operator of the forklift knocked the ATM from its location out of the sight of surveillance cameras, said police.
