MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (WCSC) - A Mt. Pleasant police officer is recovering Thursday morning after the South Carolina Highway Patrol says he crashed his cruiser into a tree.
State troopers tell us the officer was responding to a call just after 12:30 a.m.
He was traveling east on Park West Boulevard near Highway 17 when he drove off the left side of the road, crossed back over to the right, and hit a tree.
He was wearing a seat belt.
The officer was taken to the hospital.
State troopers say his injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.
The Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the accident.
