ANDERSON, SC (WYFF) - One person is dead after an officer-involved shooting in Anderson, according to Anderson police.

Sgt. David Creamer said a frantic woman inside a house on Kings Road made a 911 call at 2:45 a.m. Dispatchers said she was screaming and they couldn't make sense of what she was telling them, so they sent officers to the home.

Three officers arrived at the home, but just one was involved in the shooting, Creamer said. The man inside had a handgun, but didn't fire, according to Creamer. No further details were given.

The identities of the man and the woman were not immediately released.

Anderson County Coroner Greg Shore said the shooting stemmed from a domestic dispute. Creamer said he wasn't sure if the couple was married.

Creamer said it was the sixth time in six months that officers have been called to the home.

The woman was taken to AnMed Hospital with injuries from an assault that happened before the shooting, Shore said.

Agents from the South Carolina State Law Enforcement Division were called in to investigate, according to Shore.

The officer involved in the shooting was put on paid leave pending the results of the investigation, Creamer said.
