JOHNS ISLAND, SC (WCSC) - Firefighters with the St. Johns Fire and Rescue Department are preparing for a fight against muscular dystrophy.
St. Johns firefighters will be raising money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association August 31 through September 2 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at a number of locations throughout Johns Island.
According to the U.S. National Library of Medicine, muscular dystrophy is a group of inherited disorders that involve muscle weakness and loss of muscle tissue, which gets worse over time.
Look for the St. Johns Fire Truck at the following locations to donate to a great cause:
- Piggly Wiggly at Main Road and Maybank Highway
- Bohicket Marinia
- Bears Bluff Road and Liberia Road
- Freshfields Village shopping center
- River Road and Bohicket Road
