Berkeley Alum Brown Signs With Ravens Practice Squad

Omar Brown agreed to terms with the Baltimore Ravens on Saturday to become a member of the teams practice squad. This comes a day after the team had released him to get down to the required 52 players on the roster. 

Brown, a Berkeley High alum, went undrafted this season out of Marshall, but signed a free agent deal with the Ravens shortly after the draft. He impressed the team by recovering 3 fumbles during the preseason. 

Other players with South Carolina ties who made news on Saturday include, 

Former Clemson DB Crezdon Butler was claimed off waivers by the Washington Redskins. Butler was waived by the Cardinals on Friday. He was a 5th round pick of the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2010. 

CB Phillip Adams was claimed by the Oakland Raiders. He was waived by the Seattle Seahawks on Friday. The SC State alum was a 7th round pick of the San Francisco 49ers in 2010 and he's also spent time with the New England Patriots. 

Antonio Allen was waived by the New York Jets. The former Gamecocks DB was a 7th round pick of the team in this year's draft. 

Former Clemson DE Ricky Sapp was signed to the Jets practice squad. He spent most of 2011 on the team's practice squad as well after being a 5th round pick of the Philadelphia Eagles in 2010. 

Rafael Bush, a SC State alum, was claimed by the New Orleans Saints. He spent last season with the Denver Broncos after being signed as an undrafted free agent by the Atlanta Falcons after the 2010 draft. 

Thomas Austin was signed by the New England Patriots to their practice squad. The former Clemson OL spent 2010 on the Patriots practice squad after being cut by the Minnesota Vikings. He played for the Houston Texans in 2011. 

Patrick DiMarco signed a deal with the Kansas City Chiefs to be on their practice squad. The former Gamecocks FB played the preseason in KC and had 2 catches for 24 yards. 

Former Gamecocks WR Tori Gurley was signed to the practice squad of the Minnesota Vikings. Gurley spent 2011 on the Green Bay Packers practice squad after the team signed him as a free agent after the 2011 draft. Gurley was cut by the Packers on Friday.
