ANDERSON COUNTY, SC (WYFF) -

Authorities said a Georgia woman crashed a rental car into Anderson County Lake on Saturday.

The wreck happened around 5:45 p.m. on Chase Water Drive, near Manse Jolley Road.

Police said Alice Harrison allegedly sped up going down a hill and passed between two houses before ending up in the lake.

Witness Troy Hensarling said he tried to help, but didn't have anything to break the glass windows until help arrived.

"The boat came around the corner and I waved them over," he said. "They got their anchor and jumped out and helped me break the window and pull her out."

Authorities said Harrison survived the crash, but there was no immediate word on her condition.

Investigators said they found a baby seat in the car, that led to a search of the lake by divers near the car.

Sunday morning, the South Carolina Highway Patrol said they believe Harrison was the only person in the car at the time of the crash.
