CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -

A judge sentenced a 33-year-old man to eight years in prison after he was convicted of selling heroin.

Tywaun D. Thomas, of Georgetown, will be placed on six years of supervised release, following his imprisonment, a U.S. Attorney's Office release states.

Evidence presented at the change of plea hearing established that on September 9, 2011, the 15th Circuit Drug Enforcement Unit made an undercover purchase of heroin from Thomas.

Thomas' prior record includes multiple drug convictions.

The case was investigated by agents of the 15th Circuit Drug Enforcement Unit and the Drug Enforcement Administration.
