Folly Beach council extends temporary alcohol ban

FOLLY BEACH, SC (WCSC) - Folly Beach City Council voted to extend a temporary alcohol ban from the beach in a four to two vote Thursday night.

The council voted to extend the temporary ban, which ended Labor Day weekend, to Dec. 31.

The decision comes following a July 4th skirmish in which four Folly Beach Public Safety officers and one Charleston County Sheriff's Office deputy were taken to the hospital.

Next Tuesday, council will make its final decision on whether to ban alcohol permanently on the beach.
