Father charged in baby's fatal dog mauling says he's a good parent

RIDGEVILLE, SC (WCSC) - A Ridgeville couple who had their children taken away after their infant son was mauled to death by a family dog said Friday they are good, loving parents.

Quinton and Chantel McGrew were reunited with their two other kids for the second time last Saturday.

The Department of Social Services placed the McGrew's seven year old daughter and three year old son with Chantel's mother in April after two year old Aiden McGrew was fatally mauled.

Quinton McGrew was home and sleeping at the time. He was charged with unlawful conduct toward a child. The children were returned to the couple in June.

"Never will we forget that and with everything that has been going on, it's been really hard to grieve completely," Chantel McGrew said.

In August, the McGrews lost their kids for the second time after one of their children told counselors that they saw their parents having group sex and also homemade porn movies of their mom and dad.

"I didn't believe it," Chantel McGrew said.

The allegations could not be verified and the McGrews got their children back again. The couple said the fallout from both incidents has hurt them both personally and professionally.

"It's been a rough road. It's very frustrating, you know, with the system, stuff like that," Quinton McGrew said.

"I hope nothing else pops up, it shouldn't," Chantel McGrew added.

The couple still has to deal with Quinton's upcoming trial.

"I leave the faith and the trust in God and Andy's (Savage) hands and pray for the best and hope everything works out in the end.," Quinton McGrew said.

Quinton McGrew is free on bond. No date has been set for his trial.
