Suspected drug dealer arrested after cocaine, gun found at home

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Police arrested a 23-year-old North Charleston man accused of dealing drugs after officers found cocaine and a handgun at a home on Stuart Street on Thursday.

The Charleston Police Department charged Kwame Shabazz Jones on numerous drug dealing charges including possession of cocaine base with intent to distribute within close proximity of a school.

Investigators say they confiscated 15 grams of cocaine base and a handgun at an apartment at the Cooper River Courts Housing Complex where Jones is on trespass notice.

Jones was locked up at the Al Cannon Detention Center and was also charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime and trespassing.

Police say the investigation is the result of information provided by concerned citizens.
