CALHOUN FALLS, SC (WYFF) - The State Law Enforcement Division has arrested a man after a 10-month old girl died, according to Calhoun Falls police chief John Galloway.

SLED said Shawn White has been charged with homicide by child abuse. Galloway said White was a live-in babysitter for the child.

Paramedics were called to a home on South Butler Avenue in Calhoun Falls in August.

According to an incident report, when an officer arrived at the home, 10-month-old Emily Labounty was lying on the sofa motionless and had an extremely faint pulse.

The baby died a few days later at the hospital when she was taken off life support. The coroner said Labounty died from head injuries but also had older injuries.

The death was ruled a homicide.
