Mother killed, son hospitalized after car collides with truck

BERKELEY COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - The Berkeley County Coroner's Office says a 47-year-old woman was killed and her son hospitalized after the car she was driving collided with a truck in Berkeley County Tuesday afternoon.

The coroner says Pennie Mae Ravenell died of blunt force trauma.

Her son and the driver of the truck were taken to the hospital. Officials have not released their conditions.

Authorities say a Sedan Ravenell was driving collided with a truck at the intersection of County Line Road and Highway 311. According to Highway Patrol officials, the Sedan ran a stop sign and struck the truck.

The accident is being investigated by the coroner's office and Highway Patrol.
