Folly Beach increases reward to $3k for information in cat death

FOLLY BEACH, SC (WCSC) - Folly Beach city council voted on Tuesday to contribute another $1,000 to a reward fund for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person who killed a cat on May 13.

That donation brings the reward total to $3,000, as Pet Helpers began the fund with a $1,000 donation.  Folly Beach city council provided an initial $1,000 earlier in the summer.

Officials with Pet Helpers say Judy, an 8-year-old family cat, was brutally killed at a vacant property next to the cat owner's home. After Judy did not come home, the owner began looking for her.
Pet Helpers says a friend of the family found the cat impaled on a steel stake post.

Dr. Jack Love said that the cat had been impaled and the wounds were consistent with her death. Officials say the cat died a horrific death and signs of some struggle were apparent.
