SURFSIDE BEACH, SC (WCSC) - Authorities say they arrested the 41-year-old inmate who walked off a work site in Mt. Pleasant last week after finding him at a Myrtle Beach-area strip club.
Investigators with the SC Department of Corrections and the Surfside Beach Police Department arrested Billy Jack Hanna just before midnight Tuesday at Tiffany's Cabaret and Gentleman's Club after conducting surveillance and undercover operations for six days.
Authorities said they narrowly missed capturing Hanna twice during the operation. The inmate, who was serving time for Surfside Beach burglaries when he walked off work detail around noon on Sept. 5., is suspected of forging stolen checks to fund his escape.
Hanna was taken into custody without incident. He will be taken back to a correctional facility to face charges for his escape and subsequent alleged forgeries.
