Brothers behind bars for Summerville Subway stickup

SUMMERVILLE, SC (WCSC) - Investigators have arrested two brothers accused of an armed robbery at a Subway in Summerville on Tuesday.

The Summerville Police Department charged Melvin Mack with robbery while armed with a deadly weapon, possession of a firearm during a violent crime and kidnapping. Melvin's brother, Carroll Mack, was charged with robbery while armed with a deadly weapon.

According to investigators, Melvin Mack entered the restaurant around 11 p.m. on 975 Bacons Bridge Road while two employees were leaving.

The employees told officers that Mack forced them into the store and demanded they open the safe.

Police say Mack then left the restaurant with money taken from the safe.

A police report states that Mack's brother, Carroll, was outside of the store during the robbery.

No employees were injured during the robbery. The brothers were locked up at the Dorchester County Detention Center.
