Couple charged after police find pills, pot, and cash

WEST ASHLEY, SC (WCSC) -

A young couple is facing a laundry list of drug charges after police searched their Windermere Boulevard apartment over a week ago.

Charleston police spokesman Charles Francis said 22-year-old Robert Ruplinger was caught with a number of pills and over $1,000 in cash on Sept. 5 when investigators conducted a search of his vehicle in the area of Logan and Broad streets.

Following Ruplinger's arrest, officers executed a search warrant at 626-A Windermere Boulevard about five hours later. Once inside, investigators found a little over a pound of marijuana and $875 in cash.

Ruplinger's girlfriend, 22-year-old Katherine Okelly Wood, was also arrested as a result. Police said the couple were raising their nine-month-old child in the home.

Ruplinger was charged with two counts of possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute within close proximity of a school, three counts of possession of a control substance schedule IV and unlawful conduct towards a child.

Wood was charged with possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute within close proximity of a school and unlawful conduct towards a child.

Ruplinger was issued a $75,000 bond and Wood was issued a $25,000 bond during bond court Thursday.
