SPARTANBURG, SC (WYFF) - An 81-year-old is accused of assaulting a girl as she walked home from school, according to Spartanburg County deputies.
James Holmes is charged with one count of assault and battery.
Deputies said on Sept. 12 a report was filed about an assault of a sexual nature on an 11-year-old.
The child's grandmother said the child was walking home from school when Holmes grabbed the child, hugged her, put his tongue in her mouth and touched her breast at a home on Christopher Street.
Deputies said the grandmother, victim and suspect were all interviewed.
Holmes was booked at the Spartanburg County Detention Center and then released on a $20,000 bond.
