A father facing charges for unlawful conduct towards a child after his infant son was mauled to death by a dog plead guilty today in court to petit larceny.
Both Quintin McGrew and his wife, Chantel, plead guilty to petit larceny and were fined $750 each Tuesday morning. Summerville police say in July the couple stole an engagement ring from a friend's home and pawned it at More Money Pawn on Dorchester Road.
The victim met with police in July and told officers that Chantel McGrew had taken her wedding ring from her home. According to the victim, she received a call from a friend who said that McGrew had pawned the ring at a Money Man Pawn shop.
The victim said McGrew was given a key to her home to help the victim's husband who has medical issues. The victim told police that she attempted to contact McGrew but received no answer.
An affidavit states that both Quintin McGrew and Chantel McGrew stole a diamond engagement ring. According to the affidavit, a witness saw the McGrews take the ring and pawn it off.
Court documents state that both of the were suspects captured on video surveillance pawning off the ring.
In April, the couple's 2-month-old son Aiden was killed by a dog. Quintin McGrew was home at the time of the incident. A trial date hasn't been set on those charges.
