NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Police say a 52-year-old man who went to borrow a neighbor's lawn mower was stabbed in the chest.
The North Charleston Police Department charged Ronnie Lewis Ware with attempted murder.
Police officers responded to an apartment on Purcell Drive in reference to a stabbing. Authorities found the victim on the floor suffering from a stab wound to his chest.
The victim told police that he went to a home on Suzanne Drive to get a lawn mower to mow his lawn. According to the victim, while he was sitting down at the home and talking to another person, Ware attacked and stabbed him.
When the victim realized he was stabbed, he ran home. Officers said they found Ware at the home on Suzanne Drive and arrested him.
The victim was transported to MUSC.
A witness told officers that the victim and the suspect do not like each other and have previously fought before with each other. According to the witness, the victim was stabbed because "he tells others that the suspect is a junkie."
Ware was locked up at the Charleston County Detention Center.
