CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Officials say a gas leak on St. Philip Street has been secured and traffic has been reopened to motorists.
The leak was reported in the block of St. Philip Street between Warren and Radcliffe streets, according to Charleston Fire Department spokesman Mark Ruppel.
As a precautionary measure, 20 Warren Street, a College of Charleston dormitory, and the Charleston Public Works building were evacuated.
Two homes were also evacuated.
Traffic on St. Philip Street was blocked off between Radcliffe and Calhoun streets for much of the afternoon.
