CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - A Charleston Police Department officer was ticketed Tuesday night after troopers say she disregarded a stop sign, causing a collision with a civilian.

According to South Carolina Highway Patrol Corporal Bob Beres, the wreck happened at the corner of America and Blake streets just before 8:30 p.m.

Beres said the officer was traveling south on America Street when she disregarded the stop sign and collided with a Chevrolet sedan driven by a 48-year-old man who was heading east on Blake Street.

The officer was cited for disregarding a stop sign.

Beres said the investigation into the accident was ongoing.
