Crews remove submerged car near Rockville boat landing

ROCKVILLE, SC (WCSC) - The Charleston County Sheriff's Office has removed a vehicle from the water near the Cherry Point Boat Landing in Rockville.

Deputies responded to the area near the landing a little before 8:30 a.m. Wednesday after receiving reports of the vehicle in the water. Officials say an unoccupied 2012 Chevy Sonic was pulled out of the water.

Investigators say they contacted the owner of the vehicle around 9:30 this morning.

According to the owner, the car was parked at Sea Island Apartments on Maybank Hwy around midnight Tuesday, and the owner was unaware the car was missing.

Deputies are continuing to investigate the incident.
