N. Charleston city council votes against proposed smoking ban

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - North Charleston city council voted Wednesday evening against a smoking ban within the city.

It would have banned smoking in some public places.

Instead council members passed a measure urging businesses in the city to go smoke-free voluntarily.

Earlier this month, Charleston County officials voted to ban smoking in unincorporated parts of the county.
