NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -

Cleanup at MeadWestvaco Specialty Chemicals facility in North Charleston continues Monday afternoon, according to a company spokesperson.

The spokesperson said North Charleston Fire Department crews left the plant located at 5255 Virginia Avenue around 1:30 p.m., roughly three and a half hours after a 250,000-gallon "Tall oil" tank ruptured.

According to the spokesperson, a rupture occurred at the top of a storage tank containing the oil, but no product was released.

One person was taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure, according to the spokesperson.

North Charleston Fire Department spokesperson Bianca Sancic said crews never encountered flames.
