NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -

North Charleston police say they have arrested a burglary suspect who tried to blame his son for stealing from a neighbor.

Spencer Pryor, spokesman for the North Charleston Police Department, said officers began investigating a burglary in the 2700 block of Martha Drive on Sept. 8 after a homeowner discovered someone had stolen, among other things, a laptop computer, 3 pre-paid Verizon phones, and a digital camera.

The victim told officers she thought the perpetrators were kids in the neighborhood, the report states.

On Sept. 16, 44-year-old Bobbie Green, a man who lived around the corner from the victim, arrived at her home with the three cell phones and some other items reported stolen, police said.

Pryor said Green told the victim his 19-year-old son had taken the items, but the digital camera was still unaccounted for.

As police continued to investigate, they discovered Green had actually pawned the digital camera taken from the residence shortly after the burglary occurred, Pryor said.

Green was then arrested and taken to the Charleston County Detention Center for booking. He faces burglary charges.
