CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - A couple has been arrested on drug dealing charges after officers were called out to a domestic dispute at a downtown home Wednesday night.

The Charleston Police Department charged 39-year-old Richard Kent Robottom and 42-year-old Nicole Walker with possession of cocaine and possession of cocaine base with intent to distribute.

Officers responded to an apartment on Ashley Avenue around 9:30 p.m. in reference to a domestic dispute. Police say Robottom came outside and told officers that nothing was going on inside of the apartment.

According to police, Robottom was hysterical, shirtless and sweating profusely.

A police report states that while officers spoke to Robottom, another officer entered the apartment and spoke with Walker, who was shaking and crying hysterically.

The officer said he noticed a large kitchen knife on the coffee table in the living room and  secured it. The officer also said he noticed a side table with a gray dinner plate on it.

Police say the plate had a white powdery substance on it.

A search warrant was then obtained by the Charleston Police Department Special Investigations Unit. Investigators say a gram of cocaine and a gram of cocaine base were confiscated from the apartment.

Police are continuing the investigation.
