CHAPIN, SC (WCSC) - The Mt. Pleasant couple found fatally stabbed in their St. Maarten condo last month will be laid to rest near Columbia this week.
A funeral for Michael and Thelma King will be held this Wednesday at 4 p.m. at Chapin United Methodist Church. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. at the same location.
The Kings were found stabbed to death in their island condo on Sept. 22. The St. Maarten News Network has identified the suspect as 28-year-old Meyshane Johnson, of Jamaica, who is currently in custody on the island.
Johnson worked for a security company on St. Maarten. The solicitor's office has stated robbery as the motive for the crime.
New information on the case is expected to be provided at some point Monday.
The Kings had a number of residences, but friends say they spent most of their time recently in Mt. Pleasant, where they kept a home. They frequented the Water's Edge restaurant on Shem Creek.
