HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - Two men are behind bars after a police officer discovered photos on a cell phone connecting them to a dog fighting ring.

The cell phone was found lying in the road in the Cedar Branch community Sunday night by an Horry County Police officer.

That officer was looking through the phone to find out who owned it when he discovered photos of dogs fighting.

Horry County Police obtained a search warrant for those photos, and after reviewing video on the phone were able to identify two suspects, 23-year-old Leon Dale Green and 19-year-old Byron James Jackson.

Green and Jackson were booked into J. Reuben Long Detention Center Monday afternoon and charged with animal fighting or baiting. No bond has been set.

The incident and arrest reports from Horry County Police did not indicate if the dogs had been located. The investigation is ongoing to identify other individuals involved and more arrests are possible.
