CHARLESTON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - The Charleston County Board of Elections and Voter Registration (BEVR) is looking for people to help manage polls during the upcoming election.
Poll managers are needed for Mount Pleasant, James Island, Isle of Palms and Sullivan's Island for the November 6, 2012 election. This is a paid position, as poll managers will be paid $120 - $60 for training and $60 for Election Day.
"Poll managers have a unique opportunity to serve the community, meet their neighbors and become involved in the democratic process," said Joseph Debney, BEVR's Executive Director.
Those hired must will process voters, distribute ballots, activate voting system machines, assist voters, and must comply with election law and procedures.
The positions are open to registered voters in Charleston/Berkeley/Dorchester/Georgetown counties, or students ages 16 and 17. Applicants must be able to undergo a training session, pass a written certification test, and work on Election Day from 6 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
