COLLETON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) -

Authorities say two toddlers were seized from a Walterboro home on Black Street after their caretaker tested positive for drugs.

The Walterboro Public Safety Department met with an official from the Department of Social Services regarding placing two children in protective custody on Monday.

The DSS worker said she was informed that the children's current caretaker, 55-year-old Doreen Fulks, is a frequent narcotic user.

According to investigators, when Fulks submitted a drug screening, she tested positive for marijuana. Police and DSS then went to the home and placed the toddlers in emergency protective custody.

An incident report states that the children had just been removed from another home last month after DSS workers found the house infested with roaches.
