RIDGELAND, S.C. (AP/WTOC) - Two Beaufort County residents have died in a three-car wreck on state Highway 170 in Jasper County.

Richard Rottet, 17, and Charles Jason Anderson, 27, were killed in the crash that occurred at SC Hwy 170 near Old Baileys Road.

Rottet was a student at Beaufort High School. Anderson would have turned 28 on Oct. 6.

Jasper County Coroner Martin Sauls said it appeared one car crossed the center line and struck another car head on. Sauls says one of the cars burst into flames.

Beaufort County School District spokesman Jim Foster said the 17-year-old was a Beaufort High School student.

The third person was taken to Beaufort Memorial Hospital with injuries that were not thought to be life-threatening.
