Cause of Mt. Pleasant woman's death still undetermined

MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (WCSC) - The Charleston County Coroner's Office has completed their autopsy on the middle-aged woman found in a pond in the Old Village of Mt. Pleasant on Wednesday.

The coroner's office identified the victim as 51-year-old Charlotte Small, of Mt. Pleasant.  Officials said final autopsy results would not be available for another eight weeks.

Mount Pleasant Police Department officers say Small's body was found in the pond in the area of 825 Marsh Grass Avenue in Salt Grasse Pointe a little after 5 p.m. Police say a man who was walking his dog spotted the body and called authorities.

A police report states that Small was wearing a nightgown and appeared to have been dead for a while.

Authorities said Small's body did not have any "observable signs of trauma."  The cause of her death remains undetermined.
