CHARLESTON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) -

Investigators say a 21-year-old man accused of an attempted armed robbery in Ravenel surrendered to authorities late Monday.

The Charleston County Sheriff's Office was looking for Derrick Santel Brown, who was wanted for two counts of armed robbery and two counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime.

Major Jim Brady said Brown turned himself into detectives and a US Marshal at 10:30 p.m.  He is scheduled to appear in bond court at 2 p.m. Tuesday.

Brown is accused of an attempted armed robbery that happened on Sept. 17 on Chinnis Side Road and Brown Way Road in Ravenel.

The two victims reported that a man, later identified as Brown, approached their vehicle while it was stopped at a stop sign. According to the victims, Brown approached their vehicle, spoke to the victims, took out a gun and then demanded money.

The driver said when he told Brown that he didn't have any money, Brown struck him in the head with the revolver, took the car keys and fled the scene.

Brown is described as 5'8", 150 pounds and is believed to live on Chinnis Side Road and has a past address of 6054 Savannah Hwy lot 6 in Ravenel.

Anyone knowing Brown's whereabouts is asked to contact the Charleston County Sheriff's Office at (843) 202-1700, Detective Charles Lawrence at (843) 408-2672 or Crime Stoppers at (843) 554-1111.
