NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Institutional Research & Evaluation, Inc. have released their annual lists naming the best colleges in America, and Charleston Southern University has once again made the cut.
Charleston Southern University finds itself on America's 100 Best College Buys list for the 8th consecutive year. The university has also been named to America's Best Christian Colleges for its 14th straight year.
Lewis T. Lindsey Jr., president of the Institutional Research & Evaluation, Inc., says the lists are compiled using a number of criteria to create a fair ranking.
"Ratings are based exclusively on facts and not personal opinion that can skew results," said Lindsey. "All institutions, public and private, can be fairly compared on the basis of the academic profile of their most recent entering freshman class and the cost of tuition, fees, room and board."
According to the lists, the cost of a year at the average college or university has reached $35,691 based on the results of the 22nd Annual National College Survey. CSU's cost is $29,800.
Other South Carolina universities to make this year's 100 Best list are Anderson University, Clemson University, Coastal Carolina University, University of South Carolina and Winthrop University.
This is the 17th year the consulting firm has identified the 100 best college buys.
