CSU breaks ground on 4,700 square-foot building expansion

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Charleston Southern University broke ground Friday on a building expansion that will be used to house the College of Adult and Professional studies.

The Hunter Reception Center expansion will at 4,733-square-feet to the building, almost doubling the size of the existing building. The expansion is scheduled to be completed by summer 2013.

The project includes renovations to roughly 1,200-square-feet of the original building.

"Service to our students is our number one priority, so we are excited about the expansion to the building which will allow us to better serve our students," said Debbi Williamson, vice president for enrollment management.

The building expansion will allow the College of Adult and Professional Studies, student accounts and cashier office to move into the Hunter Reception Center.

The Hunter Reception Center opened its doors in 1991.

Additional building expansion is scheduled to being Friday, October 19 for the Derry Patterson Wingo School of Nursing building. The 16,000-square-foot expansion will add teaching labs, observation booths, nursing faculty offices and interactive space for nursing students.
