Report: Summerville woman has purse stolen at gunpoint

SUMMERVILLE, SC (WCSC) - Summerville police are searching for a suspect who they say stole a woman's purse at gunpoint while she was walking up to her apartment Saturday night.

According to a report, the victim was in front of her apartment building at Sawbranch Apartments on Saturday, Oct. 13 around 11:40 p.m. when a man walked up to her pointing a handgun. The suspect grabbed her purse, hit her in the face with it, and ran away.

Sawbranch Apartments is located at 1815 Bacons Bridge Road.

The suspect was described as being between 5'10" and 6'0", and thinly built. He was wearing a long sleeve dark blue shirt, black pants, black shoes, and had a black bandana covering his face. He also had black dreaded hair reaching his shoulders.

Police say the victim did not receive any injuries as a result of the armed robbery.
