ORANGEBURG COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Investigators have arrested a 28-year-old Brooklyn, N.Y. man accused in a shooting that left one man dead and another injured in Orangeburg County.
The Orangeburg County Sheriff's Office charged Rodsheen Ayer with murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime and two counts of attempted murder in connection to a shooting that happened on Sept. 10 at a home on Maedrine Street.
The sheriff's office says U.S. Marshals and a N.Y. fugitive task force arrested Ayer in New York on Monday.
According to the sheriff's office, Ayer was injured in the shooting, transported to an out-of-town hospital and used a fake name when asked about his injury.
"Officers have been trying to locate Ayers for more than a month but today, his luck ran out," Sheriff Leroy Ravenell said."This arrest would not have been possible without the cooperation of law enforcement agencies in New York and the U.S. Marshal Service."
Ayer is the second man deputies have arrested in the Sept. 10 shooting.
