Man sentenced to 20 years in fatal stabbing case

BEAUFORT, SC (WCSC) - A Beaufort man charged in the 2011 stabbing death of a Ridgeland man was sentenced to 20 years in prison.

Jeremy Major pleaded guilty Monday to one count of voluntary manslaughter for fatally stabbing Ricky Busby on July 1, 2011 in the carport of his Fox Lane home.

According to witnesses, Major was seen stabbing Busby in the stomach during an argument over money.

Major must serve 85-percent of his sentence before he is eligible for parole.
