WEST ASHLEY, SC (WCSC) - Charleston County Government is taking steps to ease the traffic congestion in West Ashley, and tonight they want to hear from residents about one troublesome intersection.
Officials want to address the problems at the intersection of Ashley River Road and Sam Rittenberg Boulevard.
The suggested plans call for improved traffic signal timing, widening lanes, and adding turn lanes on Ashley River Road in both directions.
"This is one of the worst intersections you can find. Anything between Burger King, Circle K, Total Wine…this is the worst," said motorist Cody Hobbs. "During 12 p.m. traffic or when it's most jammed up, it's pretty easy to get in a wreck here…especially in the turning lanes."
The public meeting will be held Thursday at the Jewish Community Center on Raoul Wallenberg Boulevard.
Residents are welcome to drop by at any time between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m.
