JAMES ISLAND, SC (WCSC) -

A 28-year-old man was ticketed after driving his Audi into the marsh off Harbor View Drive early Friday morning.

Authorities responded to the marsh just before the Dr. Julian Thomas Buxton Jr. Bridge, near the James Island Connector, around 6 a.m. after receiving reports of a crash.

They arrived on scene to find an Audi A4 sitting in the marsh. Charleston Police Department spokesman Charles Francis said the accident occurred around 3 a.m.

Francis said the driver was able to walk home, and his mother drove him to Roper St. Francis for treatment of minor injuries.

The motorist, Chad Dennis, was cited for driving too fast for conditions.
