NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - NORTH CHARLESTON (WCSC) – Officials at Charleston Southern University broke ground Friday on a 16,000-square-foot expansion to the school's nursing facility.

The Derry Patterson Wingo School of Nursing will undergo a two-story, 16,000-square-foot building expansion that will add classrooms, teaching labs, 11 faculty offices and an interactive space for nursing students.

The expansion is part of Charleston Southern University's three-year plan to expand the School of Nursing's enrollment and facilities.

"The expansion of the Derry Patterson Wingo School of Nursing will allow the program to admit more of our qualified applicants and provide them with state-of-the-art learning resources," said Dr. Tara Hulsey, dean of the nursing program.

The School of Nursing expansion is expected to be completed by Fall 2013.
