CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -

Investigators say a 19-year-old man on probation has been charged in connection to a fatal shooting in downtown.

The Charleston Police Department has charged Brandon Lynn Scott with accessory after the fact. Scott, who is on probation for a narcotic charge, was locked up at the Al Cannon Detention Center.

Officers have already charged 23-year-old Darren Nathaniel Simmons with murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime for the death of 37-year-old Albert Louis Brown.

Simmons, who is also on probation for a burglary charge, is being held at the Al Cannon Detention Center.

Police say Brown was found shot in the head laying in a pool of blood at the corner of Line and Nassau streets early Saturday morning.

Charleston police spokesman Charles Francis said dispatchers received a call about the shooting around 6 a.m. When officers and EMS arrived, the victim was found dead at the scene.

Investigators say Scott admitted that Simmons and he were conducting a drug transaction with Brown when the victim was shot.
